Experimental methods of surface application including cyanotype, resist dyeing, digital printing, cinching with cords, and more: These pants use the entirety of three yards of custom digital printed fabric. I engage with fabric at hand to create texture and accentuate the body while also reducing waste production. This print was inspired by my younger cousin Jimmy, who passed away unexpectedly. The repetition creates a sense of infinity in the presence of his soul, while representing the spirit of his personality on earth. Gentle, cool, and flowing. An up close look at the design which repeats in full print. Curing cyanotype print outdoors. The prints were made with cut up campaign cards for resourcefulness in the use of seemingly useful materials. Using draping and cinching techniques, one long rectangular piece of fabric became this vest. Curing cyanotype print outdoors. Curing cyanotype print outdoors. Dried orange peel cyanotype print. Using bleach, we are able to resist dye garments to create a design like this on my simple body con dress. This dress pattern has become a a great experimental pattern for surface application techniques like resist dyeing.
